Wayne Rooney Man United Captain? He Will Have To Wait!

Wayne Rooney was made England captain last weekend for England against Brazil due to injuries to John Terry and Rio Ferdinand. Man United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said that if Rooney wants to be Man United captain, he will have to wait.

Sir Alex has been quoted as saying: "I have never really been an advocate of centre forwards being captain.
"You can see the qualities Wayne would give as a captain. He is determined, hungry and has a desire to do well."

"He always tries no matter how your team is playing. He will give 100 per cent.
"These are wonderful qualities for a captain. It exemplifies the spirit of the whole team and players can take that on board."

"But Wayne is not in my thinking to be captain at the moment because he is young and I prefer older players and I prefer midfielders or centre-backs."

Rooney has recently stated that he would like to stay at Man United for the rest of his career. If this is the case then he has plenty of time to become a legend and Man United captain.
