Man United have abandoned a deal to sign Adem Ljajic from Partizan Belgrade. In January 2009 Sir Alex Ferguson agreed a £16 million deal for Ljajic and Zoran Tosic. Tosic is currently at Man United and Ljajic was expected to join up next month.
Partizan say the reason that Man United abandoned the deal is because they are having financial difficulties. Man United say that they have been monitoring his development of the 18-year old and decided not to go ahead.

A club spokesman told ManUtd.com: "We had an option to buy the player but, having closely monitored his development over past 12 months, and taken into the consideration the young players emerging through the ranks, we have chosen not to pursue the transfer."
