Man United Have Bid Accepted For Smalling

Sky Sources are claiming that Fulham have accepted a bid from Man United for the young, highly rated defender Chris Smalling. It is also believed by Sky that Arsenal have had a bid for Smalling rejected by Fulham.

The 20-year old has been with Fulham since 2008, he joined them from Maidstone United.
Smalling’s impressive performances have lead to him playing for England’s U20’s once and the U21’s three times.

The centre-back has made only four appearances for Fulham but many believe he has a bright future ahead of him.

Fulham have declined to comment on the situation.

*UPDATE*
A Man United 'source' reportedly told Goal.com UK: "A bid has been accepted and they club are awaiting permission to speak to the player and finalise a medical ahead of a possible transfer that we believe is a deal worth around £7 million in total.

"He chose to come to United at a time when a number of London based clubs expressed an interest in him. For United to convince him to relocate to the north is a significant coup."
