A win tomorrow for Man United will take them top of the table ahead of the clash between Chelsea and Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. United go into the game against Pompey off the back of the 3-1 win over Arsenal last weekend down at the Emirates.
Man United may have started to hit some form but Portsmouth on the other hand have been struggling down at the bottom of the table, their financial situation doesn’t help matters either.
United defender Nemanja Vidic has been linked with a move away but this week he has returned to training and may feature. United are still without Rio Ferdinand, who will be serving his second out of a four-match suspension.
Portsmouth have Papa Bouba Diop, Michael Brown and Tommy Smith all doubtful, with Herman Hreidarsson definitely out.
I can’t see Portsmouth getting anything out of tomorrows game, United are looking good with Rooney at the heart of it. Nani is full of confidence at the moment so I can’t see him being dropped to the bench, so hopefully he and Wayne can start to forge a partnership.
I haven’t seen many Portsmouth matches this season but many say that they have been unlucky and should have picked up more points. Pompey will try and contain United, so expect most of the game to be played in the Portsmouth half but once the first goes it then they will crumble.
Predicted Man United starting XI- Edwin Van Der Sar, Wes Brown, Jonny Evans, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, Antonio Valencia, Darren Fletcher, Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick, Luis Nani, Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney.
Predicted result- Manchester United 3-0 Portsmouth
