Man United Really After Michael Ballack?

Germany can overcome the absence of injured captain Ballack with younger players taking on more responsibility at the World Cup, the Chelsea midfielder said on Tuesday. This week Chelsea released midfielder Michael Ballack after both club and player were unable to reach an agreement over his contract. Rumours today suggest that Man United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is interested in signing the injured German captain.

For me this story is a non starter, the only reason I can see for United being linked to him is because of the amount of debt the club is in. If there were no financial difficulties, would United be linked with a move for him? No!

I don’t want to see him at Manchester United, I don’t like him and that is putting it nicely. Sir Alex Ferguson holds a grudge as we all know, would he really sign a player who rejected Manchester United for only a few years ago?

Ballack is 33 years-old, his legs have gone and he is no longer at his best. Would signing him improve the team and be a move forward? No it wouldn't. He would add some experience but there are already experienced players in the Man United squad.

For me this story is just as ridiculous as the one that linked Nemanja Vidic with a move to Manchester City!

Another point to consider is that yes, he'd cost nothing, but he's likely to want 100k a week, on a 2 year deal, with bonus etc.. Still adds up to a hell of a lot.

Just great...so this is what Utd has become now...a haven for retirees and rejects...Owen, Raul, Ballack...not mentioning its own collection of grand dads: Van Der Sar, Giggs, Neville, Scholes and rapidly aging/detoriating Rio .

SAF SAID THERE WILL BE SMALL CHANGES BUT NOT WITH THIS GUY. WE NEED A GREAT MIDFIELD MAESTO LIKE PAUL SCHOLES WAS. HOPEFULLY THE MONEY IS REALLY THERE AND WE CAN FIND OUR MAN.

if Man Utd sign Ballack like they signed Owen last year then Man Utd fans need to worry..
It would prove that Man Utd has got no money to buy players except to accept some 'rejected' players!!
And it would be high time to support the Red Knights!!
