Most ManUtd fans that i have spoken to since yesterday are saying that Fergie got his team selection wrong but is that really the case?

The team that started yesterday was:
Van Der Sar, Brown, Vidic, Ferdinand, Silvestre, Fletcher,Carrick, Anderson, Nani, Giggs and Rooney.

Now is this really a weak team? Yes there is not Tevez, Ronaldo and Evra but that team was perfectly capable of getting a result against Chelsea. I am nowgoing to go through every starting player and say why i think it wasnt a rubbish team.

Van Der Sar is our first choice goalie, so you cannot moan about him starting.
Brown has been a first choice player since Neville was injured and he is currently keeping Neville out of the side. Brown has had a fantastic season so far.
Vidic has come back from a illness, he was stretchered off in the eary part of the match and replaced by Hargreaves. He was in the staring line up, Vidic and Ferdinand have been for me the best central partnership this season in the Premier League
Ferdinand has been captain for United for a few times this season and like i said with Ferdinand him and Vidic have been the best partnership this season.
Silvestre was replacing Evra, yes he has been injured for most of this season but he is an experienced player who is perfectly capable of dealing with Chelsea's players.
Fletcher has been fantastic when he has come into the side this season, he has had an injury or two (one including a toilet door, if you cant remember what happened click here. I think it was Ronaldo who said that when Fletcher has come into the team he has played like man possessed.
Carrick has been a fantastic player for me this season and he plays regularly in thefirst team matches in both the Premier League and Champion's League, so why would he weaken it?
Anderson has also been fantastic this season, may people including me where expecting him to start against Barcelona. He had a shaky start at the beginning of the season but he is a regular player now, all he is missing is goals.
Nani had a bad game yesterday but every player had a bad game once in a while. Nani had a great game against Arsenal in the FA Cup, so why shouldnt he against Chelsea?
Giggs is an extremly experience player for United and he has also been first choice for most of the season, nobody in their right mind can say that Giggs would weaken a team.
Rooney is also a first choice players, fair enough he isnt a out and out striker but he has had a few injurys this season. For me Rooney would be one of the first players on a team sheet.

Is it really a weak team, yes there was no Ronaldo or Tevez but it shouldnt be like that, in my opinion we were perfectly capable of getting the result and the only reason we didnt was because we didnt perform as a team. We havent been performing like we can in recent matches and they had Ronaldo, Tevez and Evra in the team on those matches. They were playing against Barcelona and Middlesbrough. I cannot remember the team against Blackburn but i am sure Ronaldo was playing.
