Aberdeen v Manchester United Review

Yesterday Manchester United kicked off their pre-season with a 2-0 win over Aberdeen.
I wasn't expecting a strong line up for the first pre-season match but it was a pretty strong line up:
Amos (Woods, 73); Neville (Simpson, 46), Brown (J Evans, 61), Vidic (O'Shea, 46), Silvestre; Fletcher, Carrick, Scholes (Gibson, 61), Martin (Eagles, 46); Rooney (Hewson, 73), Giggs (Campbell, 61).

Aberdeen were celebrating the 25th aniversary of winning the European Cup Winners Cup which they won under Sir Alex Ferguson.
United were piling on the pressure in the first half, Rooney got off to a bit of a slow start with a few good chances which went begging. He twice shot straight at goalkeeper Jamie Langfield and also had a powerful shot blocked by a defender.
Jeffrey De Visscher came close to scoring but Aberdeen did score a goal in the first half but it was ruled out for offside, which was scored by Darren Mackie.
Just before half time, Rooney was put through on goal by Michael Carrick but he was brought down by the goalkeeper in the penalty area, which only means one thing- penalty.
I was expecting Rooney to take the penalty but Carrick stepped up and cooley slotted it into the back of the net.
United finished their season with penalties and now we have started the season with a penalty.
Second half and we were still dominating the game, we had a few good chances.
Substitute Eagles could have scored early into the second half but it went over the bar, from close range.
Amos did have to make a fantastic save when he fingertiped Jamie Smith's shot over the bar.
Twenty minutes left of the match and Rooney headed in the second goal of the match which he thoroughly deserved. After that goal Rooney looked much more confident and hopefully it has set him up for the rest of the season .
Rooney and Giggs were terrorising the Aberdeen defence until they were subbed.
Simpson had a fantastic shot saved and Eagles missed an empty net but to be fair on him it was deflected off a defender.
Everybody in the squad played a part in the match and overall United were comfortable and could have won the match by a few more- who needs Cristiano Ronaldo?
