After both team suffered 0-0 draws against Villarreal and Celtic on the opening Champion's League matches we were all hoping for some goals and we got three, but to who?
Aalborg started off confidently after getting a 0-0 draw away at Celtic but Manchester United responded in the second minute with Nani cutting inside to let fly a shot from 25 yards out, which hits the keepers thigh and bounces away.
United had a fantastic chance to go 1-0 up in the forth minute when Ronaldo charged down a clearance and Berbatov volleyed wide of an open goal.
United had a corner in the sixth minute and nearly scored from that aswell, Ferdinand hit a fantastic volley from six yards out but the keeper ZaZa saved it with his shins, I don't think he knew much about it though.
Aalborg did put together a few attacks, in the tenth minute Enevoldsen sent in a wonderful low ball which resulted in Evra having to concede a corner.
14 minutes in and came a worrying sight for Manchester United fans when Paul Scholes was stretchered off with what looked like a knee injury. Scholes was replaced by Giggs.
Rafael da Silva was preferred ahead of Wes Brown and he definetly wasn't lacking in any confidence, he had a shot which was parried by the keeper ZaZa, they managed to clear it.
After that, United didn't have to wait much longer for a goal, Ryan Giggs picked upu the ball and drilled it into the path of Wayne Rooney who flicked the ball into the back of the net to make it Aalborg 0-1 Manchester United.
Aalborg did try straight away to put themselves back on level terms, but Ferdinand had other idea's and made a fantastic saving tackle.
32 minutes in and things kicked off a bit, Beauchamp tussled with Nani in the Aalborg penalty area and he ended up worse off but Ronaldo carried on, there was no whistle from the ref, anyway, Ronaldo had a shot which was saved by the goalie. Ronaldo incured the wrath of the fans and Aalborg players, amazingly it was Rooney who acted as the peacemaker.
Rafael was given a yellow card in the 38th minute when he went into a challenge which he didn't need to and ended up getting all of the man and none of the ball.
This yellow card didnt stop Rafael and he was setting off a United attack down the right, he prodded the ball across the six yard box but Rooney was given offside.
It looked like Rafael was going to hog the headlines, makes a change from Ronaldo, Rafael tried to curl in a left footed effort but he didn't quite get hold of it properly but it did end in a corner for United, the corner nearly resulted in a first goal for Berbatov.
Aalborg had a great chance before the half time whistle came, Bogueland crossed into Curth who sent in a chip which landed on the roof of the net.
Half time and Manchester United looked comfortable but it was still only 1-0, a goal from Aalborg could bring them straight back into the game.
Second half and United started off on the front foot, United had a corner basically straight away but Pedersend stole the ball off Rooney's toe and he started a counter attack for Aalborg but Enevoldsen sent the ball over the bar.
49 minutes in and Giggs picked up the ball, he shimmied his way and had a shot, the ball was blocked by Caca.
51 minutes in and it looked like Manchester United had another injury when a knee on knee challenge by Johansson on Rafael left Rafael on the floor in pain. Rafael was stretched off but he did return, Johansson was yellow carded.
55 minutes in and then came the moment which all Manchester United fans had been waiting for since the end of the transfer window- Dimitar Berbatov had his first goal for Man United.
It was a comical goal but it was still a goal, the United players had been trying to give Berba his first goal throughout the match but it was one of the Aalborg players who handed him his first goal. Berbatov was teed up by an attempt of a backpass by the Aalborg captain- Augustinussen, Berbatov smashed the ball past ZaZa.
Straight after Berbatov scored it was obvious that he was much more confident, he started off some fantastic attacks which some very precise flicks and passes.
It wasn't all good though, not long after the goal there was another worrying sight for Manchester United and England, Wayne Rooney came off the field with what looked like and ankle injury.
Rooney was replaced by Tevez, who immediately thought he had scored but the goal was ruled out with a so called hand ball but in my opinion, the ball went into the back of the net off Tevez' back.
Rafael was also subsituted with what looked like a slight injury which I assume was because of the tackle on him by Johansson.
Aalborg had a good chance to peg United back when Johansson cut straight through United's defence but Vidic managed to put him off and his shot hit the side netting.
With 15 minutes left, Ronaldo tried a shot from 25 yards out but ZaZa held onto it.
Tevez also had a wonderful shot which would have gone in if it were an inch or two lower.
78 minutes in and Berbatov had his second goal for United, Ronaldo sent in a ball which bounced around waist height beside Berbatov, who swiveled on one foot and volleyed it straight past ZaZa, it was fantastically taken by Berba.
After that goal there wasnt really much to talk about, Berabtov provided an inch perfect pass to Ronaldo, who took the ball past the goalie and shot wide, a fit Ronaldo would have scored that.
So fulltime came and Manchester United we on top of the group, on goal difference. Celtic lost to Villarreal and next up in the Champion's League are Celtic, at Old Trafford, I cant wait.
