Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has made a remarkable statement today that will be disliked by Liverpool fans and loved by Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea fans.

Benitez has written off his own team on winning the title, yes that is right, the manager of Liverpool says to count them out of the title. Now a year ago that wouldn't be that much of a suprise but Liverpool are currently sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League.

Benitez said: “For us to win the league we need Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal to mess up their season.
"It is very rare that three teams all mess up.
“So there’s no point waiting for our direct adversaries to slip up because it won’t happen.
“They all have a lot greater financial means than us.”
“For me, Valencia and Liverpool are similar — for them to win, the bigger clubs have to do badly. “When I won La Liga with Valencia that’s what happened, Real Madrid and Barcelona were in transition, so it was easier.”

I think the title race will go all the way and I do expect Man United and Chelsea to finish as the top 2 but for Benitez to come out and say that, that was a shock.

It is all mind games though, if nobody is expecting Liverpool to win and they do then it will be fantastic for them but if your not expecting to win it and you don't then it's less of a disappointment.
