It's All Over With AIG

Manchester United's sponsors AIG have confirmed that they will not renew their contract with Man United when it runs out in May 2010.

This summer Man United will bring out a new home kit which I assume will still have AIG on it but United bring out new kits every 2 years and the AIG sponsorship will run out halfway through so does that mean we will have to buy the same shirt again but with new sponsors?

AIG just managed to averted bankruptcy in September last year with an $85 billion federal bailout, which later increased to about $152 billion so I wasn't really expecting them to renew.

Man United are confident of that they will find a new shirt sponsor, it shouldn't be too hard because we are English, European and World Champion's and putting your name on the front of Man United's shirt is worldwide advertising.

If you asked any of my family members who AIG was, their first reply would be Manchester United's sponsors, before they sponsored United I didn't have a clue who they were.

Giant Indian corporation Sahara have already confirmed they are investigating United's proposals, while Saudi Telecom would also be among the companies who could be involved.
