I would like to stress first of all that this hasn't been confirmed officially, we all know what it is like to hear rubbish stories about transfer rumours.

Apparently a Newcastle Club source has said that Man United have bid for Newcastle goalie Shay Given and the price was under £4 million.

He said: “We received a bid for Shay in writing and we dismissed it out of hand.”

Personally, this surprises me, I know that he is a fantastic goalie but we do have Van Der Sar who may'be getting older but we also have Foster, Kuszczak and we do have a young goalie called Amos.

Anyway, like I said, this hasn't been confirmed and stories that come out this time of year can be complete rubbish.
