Wigan 1-2 Manchester United Review

Football - Wigan Athletic v Manchester United Barclays Premier League
After last nights win Manchester United are now only one point away from winning the Premier League, we have two matches to pick up that point. Wigan may have lost to bottom club West Brom at the weekend but they put an awful lot into this game.

Wigan started off as the better team and could have been 1-0 up only seconds into the match when Valencia burst into the penalty area but he shot wide. It didn't take long for United to respond when Berbatov's ball in picked out Rooney who's header went wide.
Carrick also wasted an opportunity when he shot over the bar from a Ronaldo cross.

Those were the main chances that we had in the first half and we didn't impress at all. Wigan deservedly went 1-0 up 28 minutes in. Rodallega out muscled Vidic and shot past Van Der Sar. Vidic was sure that he was fouled but don't think that was the case.

Wigan braved the slight storm by United until half time and managed to go in a goal to the good. We started off the way we finished the first half, we had the possession but we couldn't create the chances to score and if we did create a slight chance, the shot would have been high or wide.

All of this changed when Ferguson made the substitution which turned the match around. 57 minutes in Tevez replaced Anderson on the field. Tevez had only been on for four minutes when he equalised for United. Carrick had a shot which was going wide, but Tevez flicked it which wrong footed goalkeeper Kingston and drew Man United level.

After that there was only one team who was going to score the winner and we did. Before Carrick scored the winning goal United had a penalty shout turned down. Ronaldo went down in the penalty area after a challenge from Figueroa. My opinion is that it was a penalty.

Throughout the night, Ronaldo had been disappointing. It was almost as if his was still in a strop. All this freekicks hit the wall, his shots were high and wide and he looked very frustrated. But that is Ronaldo, he may be awful for most of a game but then he clicks and does something magical (it didn't happen last night).

86 minutes into the match, O'Shea set up Carrick on the edge of the box and Carrick's shot flew past Wigan's goalie Kingston.

Next up is Arsenal at home, all we need is a point and it would be nice to win the Premier League at Old Trafford.
