Liverpool 1-0 Man United

Last night Man United reserves suffered their first league defeat this season and unfortunately it a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool's reserves.

Liverpool’s young striker David Ngog’s early goal was enough to beat United, even though Liverpool were down to 10 men for most of the game.

Man United got off to a horrible start to the match, Ngog received that ball from their goalie and he ran at United’s defence. He cut right through the defenders and put the ball past goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler.

As you would expect, that gave Liverpool more confidence, which left United struggling to get back into the game. Liverpool had a great chance to go 2-0 up but luckily for United, David Gray was on the line to clear a shot.

United did slowly come back into the game and you could tell that confidence was slowly growing but both teams were having shots on goal.

United were handed a helping hand when Liverpool had Damian Plessis sent off just after half an hour. Plessis plunged in on Magnus Eikrem and he was shown a straight red.

After that sending off, United dominated the match and I don’t know how we didn’t get an equaliser, let alone a winner.

Not long into the second half, United’s Josh King got onto Zoran Tosic’s through balls twice but he was unable twice, first by a great save and the second time a great tackle.

It wasn’t all United, Liverpool should have really made it 2-0 and Ngog should have had his second but his header went just over the bar.

Kiko Macheda and United were trying to draw United level but it looked like it wasn’t going to be and we knew that with 10 minutes to go.

With 10 minutes left, Macheda did have the ball in the back of the net but it was ruled out wrongly. King’s perfectly timed challenge was penalised for no apparent reason but the goal was ruled out.

The game finished 1-0 to United and Liverpool have their first (and hopefully only) win over United this season.
