Premier League Preview: Manchester United vs Sunderland

This evening Man United could go three points ahead of Chelsea in the Premier League. Man United face Sunderland at Old Trafford and tomorrow, Chelsea play Liverpool at Anfield.

Today’s game won’t be a walk over, especially considering the form Sunderland striker Darren Bent is in right now. Will Sunderland come to Old Trafford like Wolfsburg did midweek and attack us?

Former Man United player Steve Bruce will bring his club Sunderland (who he has totally transformed) wanting to leave with at least one point. I don’t think Sunderland will come straight at us like Wolfsburg did, that would open up too many holes, which United could easily exploit. Instead, I think they will stick 10 men behind the ball (like most teams do at Old Trafford) and wait to catch us out on a counter attack or exploit dead ball situations.

Man United will be without Michael Owen; I don’t think he would have started this match anyway. The only doubts we have are Rafael da Silva who is still suffering from a shoulder injury and Ji-Sung Park who has been suffering with a virus.

We are definitely without Gabriel Obertan who has a back injury, Owen Hargreaves who is back in training but not ready to play, Edwin Van Der Sar who is also back in training but not fit either.

Sunderland only has one injury concern and that is Lee Cattermole. They don’t have any other injured players.

Possible Man United starting XI- Ben Foster, Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra, Antonio Valencia, Michael Carrick, Anderson, Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov.

My prediction- Manchester United 2-0 Sunderland.
