It looks like Inter Milan’s Brazilian defender Maicon is a wanted man. Barcelona were linked with a move for the player and it looked like in the summer that the player was close to a move to the Nou Camp.
Today both Man United and Man City have been linked with a move for the 28-year-old. The Sun believe that United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and City manager Mark Hughes are ready to go head-to-head to sign the player.
It is widely thought that the owners of Man City will give Hughes a total of €106 million to spend during the January transfer window. It is thought that €23m will be spent on Maicon. We all know that United can’t compete with City money wise but it really depends on whether Maicon wants join a team who are already winning trophies or a team who will pay him more.
Maicon’s agent has said that if Man United were willing to make an offer then they will be listening. He also said that Maicon wants better wages which both teams could offer him, obviously City would offer him more.
