Carling Cup Preview: Man United vs Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester United Team Celebrate with the Carling Cup 2008/09

Tomorrow night Man United’s youngsters face a tough test when they take on Tottenham Hotspur in a repeat of last season’s Carling Cup final. Last Wednesday a young Man United side took on Besiktas in the Champions League, they lost 1-0 but they didn’t play to badly.

Players such as Gabriel Obertan, Federico Macheda, Rafael da Silva, Danny Welbeck and Darron Gibson are all expected to play their part.

Man United are definitely without Edwin Van Der Sar, Fabio da Silva, Owen Hargreaves, John O'Shea, Jonny Evans and Rio Ferdinand.

Tottenham have a few injury doubts- Johnathan Woodgate and Ledley King are both struggling to be fit. Giovani Dos Santos could start after returning to training following an ankle injury.

Over the weekend Man United had an eventful 4-1 win over Portsmouth whilst Tottenham drew 1-1 away to Aston Villa. Man United haven’t lost to Spurs since 2001 but that will mean nothing tomorrow. I don’t how strong a team Harry Redknapp will put out but expect Sir Alex Ferguson to field youngsters.

Predicted Man United starting XI- Ben Foster, Rafael da Silva, Wes Brown, Nemanja Vidic, Ritchie de Laet, Luis Nani, Darron Gibson, Anderson, Gabriel Obertan, Danny Welbeck and Federico Macheda.

Predicted scoreline- Man United 2-1 Tottenham
