The Sunday Sun believe that Championship side Newcastle United are after Man United midfielder Tom Cleverley. The 20-year old is currently on loan at Watford until the rest of the season but Newcastle are preparing a bid to sign him in January.

It is thought that Newcastle’s coaching staff have been impressed with Cleverley whilst he has been playing for Watford. If given permission, Newcastle would have to persuade Cleverley that he would be better off with the Championship side rather that Manchester United.

Cleverley is currently happy on loan at Watford and it is believed that Man United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes the youngster has a bright future at Old Trafford.
