Luis Nani Not Leaving Man United

Man United winger Luis Nani hasn’t had as many opportunities to play as most would have expected so far this season. When Cristiano Ronaldo left Old Trafford during the summer, Nani said he was ready to step-up and claim his position in the team.

Nani has struggled since joining Man United in the summer of 2007. Since then Gabriel Obertan and Antonio Valencia have joined Man United and they have been playing well. Valencia has been improving over recent matches, Obertan has played a few times for the first team but he has looked good. Ryan Giggs has also been in fantastic form so it has been really hard for Nani.

It has been no surprise that Nani has been linked with a move away. Man United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has urged Nani to seize his chances and he has assured him that he has a future at the club.

Sir Alex told The Mirror: “Some big clubs have been mentioned for Nani, like Milan and Benfica, but there has been no contact made with us – and we wouldn’t entertain selling him anyway”
“He is only 23. If someone came in for Nani in January we would tell him that he is going absolutely nowhere.

“He’s a young boy and he wants to play – and he might get a chance against Spurs in the Carling Cup this week. He has suffered because Valencia’s form has been excellent and because Obertan has emerged as an interesting player.

“It is no criticism of Nani, but the way things have developed in the last few weeks have gone against him. I have spoken to him and told him that he must take his chance when it comes along.”
