Tonight Manchester City host current holders of the Carling Cup Man United, in the first leg of the competition’s semi-final tie between the two teams. The last time Manchester City won a major trophy was 34 years ago and that was the League Cup. On the other hand, Man United have won the Premier League 11 times, FA Cup 8 times, 3 League Cups, European cup twice, one Cup Winners’ Cup.
Man City have now been taken over by a rich billionaire and they are able to buy whoever the want, assuming the player wants to go there. Man United are around £700 million in debt, facing financial under certainty and can’t afford to buy any players. On paper both clubs are worlds apart but that won’t matter tonight.
