Man United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said that defender Rio Ferdinand will probably be back to full training within two weeks. Sir Alex also said, during his pre-match press conference, that Nemanja Vidic should be back in 10 days time.
Ferdinand has been suffering from a back problem and there was some speculation stating that he might not be able to play again. Vidic pulled out during Man United’s warm up against Leeds with an injury. Since then there has been plenty of speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid.
“During the warm-up against Leeds, he felt a problem in the nerve,” said Sir Alex. “It’s something which has been a recent problem for him and he just didn’t feel confident enough to play. I understand that because it’s painful. We sent him to a specialist to get the problem diagnosed and we know what exercises he needs to do now. It’s not a long-term issue and we can control it.”
Wes Brown and Jonny Evans are both fit for tomorrows game against Birmingham.
