Six Teams To Challenge For The Title

CHELSEA V MANCHESER UNITED

We are days away from the start of the new Premier League season and Chelsea striker Didier Drogba expected six teams to challenge for the title.

Over past years we have got used to seeing four teams at the top of the table- Man United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal. People are now talking about the ‘top five’. Since being taken over by a billionaire, Manchester City have spent a lot of money on players such as Robinho, Carlos Tevez, Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz. They have also been linked with players like John Terry, Kaka and anyone who is priced over £30 million.

Drogba also believes that Aston Villa could be in the reckoning to win the Premier League title. I am not sure if Aston Villa has a big enough squad to win the title, they are a top team but if you want to win the title, you need a big squad.

I am not sure if Man City will win it either. They have bought a lot of players and they will need to take time to gel. It could either go great for Man City and it could be an awful season. Me being a Man United fan, I am sure you know which way I want it to go.

Here is what Drogba said:

"It will no longer be the 'Big Four', but the 'Big Five' or 'Big Six'. I've never had an easy season since I came to England," Drogba told Thursday's edition of sports daily L'Equipe. "It gets harder each year, and, without doubt, this one promises to be even harder. There are five or six teams capable of fighting for the title."

It's 2 days away from our first game of the season. It will be interesting to see the line-up, especially in the striking department.

I reckon it would be a Rooney-Berba show, with Owen as a sub.
    What about you?

Hi shutterspeed, thanks for your comment.

I also believe it will be Rooney and Berbatov upfront. Fergie chose Berba and Rooney over Tevez with either Rooney and Berba so I don't see it changing.
