As you probably know, it looks very likely that Burley manager Owen Coyle is on his way to Bolton. That leaves a managerial space to fill at Burnley, Man United assistant manager Mike Phelan is reportedly on Burnley’s shortlist for their next manager.
Phelan did play for Burnley from 1979-1985 so it might be nice for him to return to his former club but he also played for United from 1989-1994.
Phelan is expected to go up against Man United manager Sir Alex Ferguson’s son Darren Ferguson for the job.
There is not really a chance that Phelan will get the Man United managers job when Sir Alex retires, it really depends on if he is looking to be a manager. Does he want to stay at Man United and win trophies or would he like to manage Burnley and keep them in the Premier League and possibly win a cup?
That is assuming that Burnley want him.
I hope he goes so that SAF can recruit a proper number 2. Tactically we are going nowhere with the current setup.
I am not sure if Burnley would want him, they are a Premier League team wouldn't they look for a bigger name?
