Man United stayed second in the table yesterday after a 3-0 win over Burnley. After a tight first half, Dimitar Berbatov, Wayne Rooney and Mame Biram Diouf gave United a 3-0 win.

Man United starting XI- Edwin Van Der Sar, Gary Neville, Wes Brown, Jonny Evans, Antonio Valencia, Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick, Luis Nani, Berbatov and Rooney.

Burnley had a great early chance to take a surprise lead when David Nugent broke away with two other Burnley players, he played the ball to Steven Fletcher and his shot flashed wide of goal. That was a big let off for Man United.

After some great play by Berbatov and Rooney, Valencia played the ball back for Nani (who only had to hit it) and he fluffed his chance by totally missing the ball.
Just before half time Nani did test the keeper Brian Jensen with an overhead kick, which was pushed away for a corner.

Second half and United were starting to look like they could carve out an opening. Berbatov and Valencia combined again, resulting in a strike by Berbatov, which hit the side netting.

It wasn’t all Manchester United, Burnley did have a great chance. Nugent was put through in goal by former United player Chris Eagles but the shot went wide.

Man United went ahead after Nani’s pass found Rooney just outside of the penalty area, he put Berbatov through on goal and Berba stuck the ball past Jensen and gave United the lead.

Diouf came on as a substitute to make his debut at Old Trafford and he got that off to a perfect start. In stoppage time Valencia’s long ball was headed past Jensen by Diouf and United had a 3-0 win.

In the end the final 20 minutes was fairly comfortable, United again didn’t play at their best but we did get all three points, which is all that really matters in the end.
