Barnsley Trouble: Something Out Of Nothing

Man United defender Gary Neville has been quoted by The Sun as saying that the crowd trouble at Barnsley was blown out of proportion because Man United were involved.

United won 2-0 down at Oakwell but the game was marred by three Barnsley supporters running onto the pitch and other supporters ransacking the food kiosks. During half time catering staff had to lock themselves away as angry fans took money and stole food and drink.

"The supposed crowd trouble at Barnsley was something out of nothing," he told The Sun.

"United fans got boisterous. They do. But anything that happens with us gets blown out of proportion."

I understand what Neville is saying but I don’t know if you can really call £10,000 worth of damage nothing. These things do rarely happen but I am sure that the mainly female staff were terrified and that is not on.

It is unfair to blame just Man United fans because I am sure that Barnsley fans would have been involved aswell. The FA are looking into it and I am sure United and possibly Barnsley will be fined.
