Man United Vs Chelsea Used To Launch 3D Channel

Sports News - January 31, 2010
It has been confirmed by Sky that the Premier League game between Man United and Chelsea will be used to launch Europe’s first 3D television channel.

Over 1,000 clubs and pubs will show the game across the UK on the 3rd April with the possibility that at least five more Premier League games will be shown via the 3D channel before the end of the season.

The game between Arsenal and Man United earlier on in the season was used to premier the first ever game to be shown in 3D. After that was a success, Sky are now launching the channel.

Sky’s Brian Lenz said: "It's fitting that one of the biggest games of the season will be the launch pad for our pioneering Sky 3D service.”

"With 3D, seeing really is believing, so it's great news that over 1,000 pubs across country will be able to show the magic of 3D to their customers."

No Man United Players On Facebook Or Twitter

Manchester City FC Vs Manchester United FC

Over recent months footballers from other clubs have made some controversial comments using either twitter or facebook. The most recent being Liverpool’s Ryan Babel revealing that he had been dropped by Rafa Benitez.

Man United have confirmed that none of their players are on social networking sites.

A notice on ManUtd.com read: "The club wishes to make it clear no United players maintain personal profiles on social networking websites.
"Fans encountering any web pages purporting to be written by United players should treat them with extreme scepticism."

Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs and Darren Fletcher all had accounts on twitter- they have been removed. Giggs, Wes Brown and Rio Ferdinand all had facebook accounts and they have also been removed.

Man United Takeover On The Horizon?

This morning it is being reported by the News of the World that a group of six businessmen from the Far East are ready to make a £1 billion bid to buy Man United from the Glazer family.

SPORTSTAETTE: Manchester, 24.04.02

The tabloid believe that two out of the six businessmen are already Man United fans and have already visited Old Trafford a few times in three months.

A financial 'source' in the Bangkok reportedly said: "All the finances are in place and they are ready to approach the Glazers.

"They have done their homework down to the minutest detail and realise the Glazers are under pressure to service their mounting debts.

"If ever there was a time for United to be vulnerable to a buyout, it is now."

Another 'source' apparently said: "Make no mistake, this could be the biggest football deal of all time.

"Roman Abramovich's investment in Chelsea will be nothing compared to this. If the Glazers are ready to sell, the money is absolutely on the table."

The group of businessmen are said to be willing to have only a piece of the cake if the Glazers are unwilling to give up control of Man United. If this is true and right now, there is no way of telling then this is massive news, especially if it means that Man United’s debt can be wiped out.

There would be one main thing that I would worry about. We have seen what has happened over at Anfield with the Americans, they fell out and there was turmoil at the club. With six businessmen with a lot of money, what would happen to Man United if they fell out?

On the other hand, these men could come in, wipe out quite a bit of debt and pump a lot of money into Man United that could be fantastic.

Ferdinand; Dead Man Running

Dead Man Running: UK Film Premiere - Inside Arrivals

Last night Man United defender Rio Ferdinand was down in London at the premiere of the film he helped to fund. Another one of the men to fund this film was Chelsea's Ashley Cole who was also there.

Cole’s and Ferdinand's new gangster movie Dead Man Running features rapper 50 Cent, Brenda Blethyn, Ashley Walters and Danny Dyer. They were also at the premiere.

Man United fan Tinchy Stryder was also at the premiere.

Dead Man Running: UK Film Premiere - Afterparty

Ferdinand gave financial backing to the £2million film on the condition 12 youngsters from his Live The Dream Foundation were employed as runners.

Ferdinand: “There are kids out there of all different races, creeds and backgrounds who are looking for a break, and that's what my foundation's about.”

“I felt if I could do something positive and give young people a chance to get on the ladder, that was what I wanted to do.”

“Three have been told they will be involved in the next film because of their hard work and tenacity.”

Ferdinand will now turn his attentions to beating Liverpool at Anfield this Sunday.

This made me laugh and definitely worth checking out. There are a few problems with the width of the video and I am trying to sort that out.

Studs Ended Forlan's Man United Career

Manchester United v CelticDiego Forlan joined Man United in 2002 and he has said that his Man United career ended because he chose the wrong studs.

Forlan has said that he chose the wrong boots for the all-important match against Chelsea. Apparently Sir Alex Ferguson told him to wear boots with large studs, he said that he would change his boots, but he didn’t.

"(Sir Alex) Ferguson wanted me to play with high studs, the interchangeable ones that suit wet pitches," Forlan told the official Champions League magazine.

"But I feel more comfortable in low ones. I agreed to change boots, but I didn't. Against Chelsea, I slipped in front of goal and wasted a chance. Afterwards, I rushed to the dressing room to change boots. Ferguson caught me. He grabbed the boots and threw them. That was my last game for United."

Oh dear!

In other words, if you tell the gaffer you are going to do something, you better do it.

If you haven't seen the main match highlights from yesterday's game between Man United and Valencia, here they are.

Man United WERE The Target

It has been revealed that Man United were the target of the Jakarta bombs on the Ritz-Carlton hotel two weeks ago. This is according to a message posted on the internet reporting to be from Indonesia's most wanted terrorist suspect Noordin Mohammed Top.

"These players are Christians, so Muslims should not honour and respect these enemies of Allah," the message said.

"They have major interests in sucking Indonesia's treasure and financing the US army to fight against Muslims and Islam".

Indonesian police are currently examining this posting, it carried Noordin's name and identified his group as "Al Qae'da in Indonesia".

The group claims to have carried out extensive research before carrying out the bombings, and they have promised to release video footage of the suicide bombers' statements.

Many of us thought that this was just a coincidence but by the sounds of it, it isn't. If this is proven to be true, will Man United really return to Indonesia?

New 09/10 Away Shirt

Man United have revealed their new 2009/2010 away kit, which can be pre-ordered here. The shirt features a commemorative tag at the side of the shirt and large chevron across the chest. The tag represents the design which was worn when Man United first won the FA Cup in 1909.

The players will wear this strip for the first time against either Bayern Munich or AC Milan tomorrow in the Audi Cup.

"It’s a privilege to play for this club and whenever you put the kit on you know you need to give your best and show respect for the shirt," Patrice Evra told ManUtd.com

"History is very important at United and it’s a great idea to base the kits on that. I just hope we can be successful in them."

Ji-sung Park added: "I particularly like the away kit - the black and blue colours are quite army-like. Hopefully we can be like soldiers on the pitch and win every game."

What do you think of the new shirt? Will you be buying it?

Man United Star Robbed

Man United striker Federico Macheda has become the latest Premier League star to be robbed. Yesterday Macheda was robbed at home by two masked men. This isn't the first Man United player to have been robbed, whilst on Champion's League duty Darren Fletcher was robbed. His other half was held at knife point.

Macheda was at home with a friend when they gained entry and they took thousands of pounds worth of stuff which included money, watch and jewellery. Macheda suffered a mild head injury and the attack was linked to a nighclub incident earlier on in the day.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Two men stole cash and jewellery from the victims before running out of the house. Inquiries are ongoing."

Lets hope they can catch these men, nobody deserves to go through a robbing.

Is This The New Away Shirt?

Above is a leaked picture of what is thought to be the new Manchester United 2009/10 away shirt. We won't know if it is the real one but it wouldn't surprise me if it is.

This shirt is very similar to the new Man United home shirt. The new home shirt is growing on me but I don't like this one. The colours really aren't my favourite colours especially when they are together.

What do you think? Would you wear this shirt?

Man United's New Kit Finally Revealed

British tabloid The Sun have claimed that they have got exclusive pictures of Man United's new 2010/11 home kit.

The new kit will be launched on July 1st and it does look like one of the prototypes that we have seen before. The picture is modelled by Wayne Rooney.

It is difficult to tell because the image is on the darker side but it does look like the one that I have posted above.

What do you think, do you like this shirt? It is a lot better that some of the images that I have seen.

Official Man United Profile For Iker Casillas

Yesterday I told you about Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas being linked with a move to Manchester United. I wasn't too sure about the speculation but today Man United have an OFFICIAL profile for the player. If you don't believe me then check it out here or look at the picture above.

As far as I know, the player hasn't joined Man United.

Man United Keep On Eye On 11 Year Old

11 year old Jack Gilchrist played for Rolls-Royce Leisure Under-11s last season but he has already been training at Manchester United's Carrington Training Ground.
The youngster has been spotted by Man United, Port Vale and Aston Villa but Man United's youth-recruitment officer, Derek Langley, Jack has signed for Coca-Cola League One side Walsall.

It was too far for Jack to travel and Walsall have become Man United's feeder club so there will be a good chance that we will sign him when he turns 14. Jack is a right sided midfielder and he has impressed Man United.

Jack's dad, Glen Gilchrist, said: "Jack went up to United's training facility at Carrington and they were impressed. But Derek Langley said it was too far to travel to Manchester and recommended Jack join Walsall.

"Walsall are a bit like a feeder-club to United so this way, they can keep a close eye on him and have first option on him when he turns 14.

"I am so happy for Jack. He has worked very hard and he puts his best into it. I am absolutely delighted for him, as is his mum Sharon.

"Jack is also over the moon about it, although he has still got his feet firmly on the floor."

Nice to see that we could have another talented English youngster. Good luck to Jack and keep up the good work.

Inside The Man United Dressing Room

Football - Manchester United Champions League Final Training
Rio Ferdinand has revealed what really goes on in the Man United dressing room. It has been great to hear about what really goes on behind the scenes, I just wish we could hear more of it.

"At United we've got quite a few people who are into winding people up," Ferdinand said. "Wayne Rooney's obviously one of the main culprits, he's involved at all stages of wind-up material."
"Wes Brown or Darren Fletcher are normally the butt of his jokes. Wes now has to check his trainers before he puts them on because they could be sewn in half or the laces are gone."
"Darren Fletcher has this really nice, clean image but in the changing room he is usually involved in stuff like that, usually people's phones going missing."
"[Cristiano] Ronaldo is quite a funny lad, to be honest with you. People think, 'oh he's this and that' but Ronnie's got a good sense of humour."
"If we start talking about his gear too much he gets a bit agitated so we hammer his gear, whether it's good or bad because we know that it gets to him."
"We don't ever really touch anything on Scholesy [Paul Scholes]. He's just too good a player and too nice a man," he said."You just don't go near Scholesy's stuff, simple as that. He's a living legend."
"Ryan Giggs, not surprisingly, also has special status in the United dressing room."If a young kid is getting out of hand, Giggsy's the one with a little dry, sarcastic comment to make the lad go, 'oh, I'm a bit above my station here, I'll sit down and get back into my spot',"
"You don't go anywhere near the boss with proper banter."
"But you might try and put the ball through his legs while he's walking around the changing room - and he'll give you a clip around the ear for doing it."
"But you wouldn't really cut his socks or shoes up because I think you would be on the next bus out of Manchester!"

United Stars Are Pampered

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has revealed what Man United players lifestyles are like. We all no that they earn a lot of money, have big houses and flash cars but one thing that Evra did reveal really surprised me.

Evra has even revealed that he can call someone to change lightbulb. Evra has a player liason officer called Barry Moorhouse who he can call day or night, if he needs something done, for free.

All of the Man United players have a team of personal butlers who will do anything whenever they want.

Evra, 28 said: "When you see Baz you can ask him anything. Call him any time and he says every time he's free."

A Man United insider said: "Barry and his team can arrange virtually anything - new car, new house, you name it.
"The manager wants players to concentrate on football, but some requests are ridiculous. They're pampered, they live in a bubble.
"Some wouldn't know how to change a lightbulb. And if Wags need something they are helped too. They're all treated better than the Royal Family."

I can understand that Sir Alex wants them to concentrate on football but calling someone to change a trivial thing like a lightbulb is ridiculous. By the time that the man/woman arrives, the player could have changed it himself.

It does sound silly but if you think of it this way then it does kind of make sense. If Cristiano Ronaldo went up a ladder to change a lightbulb and fell off, that would cost Man United a lot more than a personal butler.
